Bath Police Department post on Facebook stirs up controversy.
The Bath Village Police Department has stirred up controversy with two recent social media posts that address crime and the state government’s approach to it. On Tuesday evening, the department shared a post on its Facebook page claiming “chemically dependent” individuals were burglarizing garages on Robie Street and Warden Street, stealing items such as motorbikes. The new message asserted that the majority of crime in the village is perpetrated by people under the influence of drugs and with multiple pending felony charges.

Details were few-and-far between Thursday morning, but we’re learning more about a late-afternoon structure fire that prompted the response of several departments in Cayuga County. Departments from outside of Cayuga County were even called to the scene.
