BIG CHANGES COMING TO FIRE SERVICE IN THIS CAYUGA CO. TOWN
There are going to be some significant changes coming later this year in the town of Fleming. On Monday, March 20, the Fleming Town Board held a public hearing discussing a resolution that would dissolve the Fleming Fire Protection District, then create a new one known as the “Fleming Fire Protection District.”
Since the mid-1900s the town of Fleming has been covered by two departments. Fleming Fire Department No. 1, Inc. and Fleming Fire Co. 2. Both operate within the aforementioned district. After that public hearing the Town Board voted to dissolve the Fleming Fire Protection District and form a new Fleming Fire District, which would officially be active October 2, 2023.
SHERIFF: CORRECTIONS OFFICER CHARGED WITH EAVESDROPPING, OFFICIAL MISCONDUCT
Sheriff David Cirencione says a corrections officer has been arrested on a felony charge after an eavesdropping investigation. In January, he says the sheriff’s administration was made aware of potentially inappropriate behavior by an officer assigned to the Court Security Detail.
That officer, identified as 44-year-old Adam Broadwell, a 20-year veteran of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division, was said to be using an electronic hearing device to amplify voices for purpose of listening in on conversations that he was not included. He was also said to be recording those conversations without the permission or knowledge of those taking part.
