Leaders in Ontario County worried about state gaming deal: Rochester casino could impact 1,000 jobs at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack
Following the report earlier this week that the state could be negotiating a deal behind closed doors to bring a Seneca Nation casino to the Rochester-area several local stakeholders have spoken out in opposition. First, representatives from Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack spoke out against it, alongside State Sen. Pam Helming, who represents Ontario County. Helming said that not only would a Rochester-based casino impact Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, but also del Lago Resort & Casino, located in Tyre. She pointed to indirect impacts of a casino in Rochester, too. Now, more leaders from the Ontario County are weighing in on the matter- calling for more local input if the state and Seneca Nation are serious about a Rochester casino.
