CUTRI PASSES AWAY: Longtime Canandaigua City Councilor Nick Cutri has passed away. City officials and community members mourned the loss of the steadfast supporter of Canandaigua over the last two days. He served the community right up until his passing last Thursday, according to city officials. “He’s really going to be missed,” Canandaigua Mayor Bob Palumbo told The Daily Messenger. “His love for Canandaigua and the people here is above and beyond.” [CLICK HERE FOR MORE]
NEXT LEVEL SUCCESS: Former Lyons basketball star Justice Smith made his Division 1 debut at Eastern Tennessee State University on Monday night and shined as he shot 9-of-10 from the field and scored a game-high 20 points to go along with six rebounds, one assist, and one block. STORE CLOSING: The Walgreens store located at 314 Genesee Street is closing on November 15th. The company told The Citizen that while the decision was difficult, it boiled down to being able to meet the needs of patients and customers in communities. For Walgreens that means creating the right network of stores in the right locations. Customers of that drug store will have their files transferred over to the Grant Avenue location. FUNDRAISING UNDERWAY: The man who rescued his 6-month-old child from a burning home on Clinton Street in Seneca Falls suffered serious injuries. FRAT BAN: The Interfraternity Council (IFC) at Cornell University has suspended all frat parties and social events after reports of sexual assault and students being drugged from campus police at both Ithaca College and Cornell University. LEGISLATOR PASSES: Two weeks after resigning from the Tompkins County Legislature Henry Granison has passed away. He was first elected in 2017 and was re-elected last year to represent Ithaca’s Third District. According to officials, Granison passed away on Saturday, November 5th. [CLICK HERE FOR MORE]
DUMP SITE CLEARED: A resident on Lyons Road has ignored citations, town code enforcement visits, and court orders for over a year before the Town of Palmyra finally decided to take action. The owner, Dave Morrison, is known for ignoring these notices to continue his scrap metal business like he has for many years. MASSIVE EXPANSION: Cayuga Milk Ingredients is growing. The company announced that its dairy processing facility is moving forward on a big expansion that will add over 70 jobs.
