Auburn prison official demoted after road rage incident caught on camera
A new video has emerged online showing the road rage incident involving the now-demoted Deputy Superintendent of Security of the Auburn Correctional Facility, Gregory P. Stachowski. The incident, which unfolded on I-86 and Route 13 in Horseheads, has resulted in Stachowski being charged with felony grand larceny and official misconduct, according to New York State Police. The video reveals an off-camera victim questioning Stachowski’s misuse of his corrections officer badge during the confrontation.
Two hospitalized after serious overnight crash on Thruway in Cayuga County
Several departments were dispatched to a two-car accident on the New York State Thruway during the early-morning hours on Friday in Cayuga County. One of the vehicles involved rolled over during the crash. There were four patients, but just two were transported to area medical centers. Reports from first responders also indicated that one person was taken into custody. However, that information could not yet be independently verified as of 5 a.m.
Lake’s Edge development in Geneva should resume in August
The Lake’s Edge Seneca development project, which involves the construction of a $25.2 million hotel and condominium project on the former Geneva American Legion property on Lochland Road, has paused raising some questions about its future. City Manager Amie Hendrix dismissed the rumors telling the Finger Lakes Times this week that the pause was due to financing challenges associated with some international funds but reassured that the project was moving forward. Construction is expected to resume in August.
