Geneva City Council votes 6-2 to censure Bill Pealer Jr.
Geneva City Councilor Bill Pealer has been censured. It went down as a 6-2 vote with Mayor Steve Valentino and Pealer himself being the only to opposing votes. Several speakers voiced concern about his activity on social media, pointing to Twitter posts about the LGBTQ+ community. Some speakers even called for him to resign.
State auditors say Seneca Falls made ‘very limited’ progress implementing fixes from 2019 audit.
The Town of Seneca Falls has made "very limited progress" in implementing corrective action suggested by a state audit in 2019, according to state auditors. Specifically, auditors cited issues such as unrealistic budget estimates resulting in surpluses, lack of written policies for surplus funds, untimely budget transfers, absence of multi-year plans, and maintaining reserves with no clear guidance.
