GoFundMe started for family who lost everything in Waterloo fire
A GoFundMe has been started for the family devastated by a fire earlier this week in Waterloo. Multiple departments were dispatched to the scene of the blaze on Wagner Street. Now, family of the victims say the home was a complete loss. Not only was the home destroyed, but a vehicle and belongings were also ravaged by the flames. As of late-Monday, the family was also looking for pets who were lost after the fire.
NYS shuts down dispensaries operated by man who threatened state officials after last raids in Cayuga, Wayne counties
Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James, and the Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) announced the closure of seven unlicensed cannabis dispensaries operating under the chain name “I’m Stuck” in Upstate New York. The stores, located in Cayuga, Oswego, and Wayne counties, were found to be illegally selling cannabis to underage customers and processing cannabis products without proper licensing, risking significant health hazards. The owner, David Tulley, faces potential fines in the millions.
The action against “I’m Stuck” included evidence from undercover operations where OAG investigators were able to purchase cannabis products, and observations of sales to underage customers, including a promotional Easter egg hunt involving cannabis products. In total, inspections led to the seizure of 47 pounds of cannabis flower, 244 pounds of cannabis edibles, and 89 pounds of cannabis concentrate.
Finger Lakes hospitals get mixed reviews in latest quality rating report
New York’s hospitals received lackluster rankings in the latest federal quality rating reports, with the state’s health system underperforming compared to national averages.
According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) rankings, only 11 hospitals in New York received the top 5-star rating, reflecting 8% of eligible state hospitals, while about 15% of hospitals nationally achieved the top score. In contrast, 25 New York hospitals received the lowest 1-star rating, reflecting about 18% of eligible state hospitals, compared to a national average of 8%.
