Auburn High School undergoes essential renovations under district’s five-year plan
Auburn High School has embarked on much-needed renovations as part of the district’s five-year improvement plan. Currently, the school’s ceilings have been dismantled to facilitate the replacement of all branch piping, a project that is reportedly ahead of schedule. Pirozzolo noted that the five-year plan should have been accomplished by now. However, the COVID-19 pandemic precipitated delays, hindering the progress of refurbishments across the district’s facilities.
Teen pleads guilty to manslaughter after fatal 2022 Williamson stabbing
Last week a local teen pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in Wayne County Court. Silas Rivera, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter charge over the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old man in 2022. District Attorney Mike Calarco confirmed that Rivera was charged in the killing of Arthur Edick, which took place during a dispute at a Ridge Road residence in Williamson. Rivera was initially charged with second-degree murder and burglary but has since pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. He’s scheduled to be sentenced on October 4.
Geneva appoints Nicole Wright as new city clerk
The city of Geneva has appointed Nicole Wright as its new city clerk, succeeding Lori Guinan who is set to retire later this year. After a rigorous selection process that started in spring and involved eight candidates, Wright’s appointment was made official at a special City Council meeting held July 10. Her role, with a starting salary of $70,000, begins on July 31.
