Three Starbucks in Ithaca vote to unionize
WHAT NEXT: Stores at Meadow Street, College Avenue, and The Commons in Ithaca won their union vote, bringing the total number of unionized Starbucks across the country to 16. Of the 50 ballots cast in Ithaca, 47, or 94%, voted in favor of unionizing. The three remaining ballots were unresolved.

Penn Yan student charged, another hospitalized after consuming gummy
NEW DETAILS: Police say a 14-year-old gave a gummy to another student, who had negative side effects from it. The gummy contained concentrated cannabis, which police say is far stronger than cannabis in leaf form. The student who had the reaction to the gummy was transported to Soldiers & Sailors Hospital for treatment. The 14-year-old, who was not identified by police, faces family court charges and disciplinary action at school.
Guilty plea in Auburn Smoke Shop attempted robbery
UPDATE: A 29-year-old will face seven years in prison after an attempted robbery was caught on surveillance cameras at the Auburn Smoke Shop. The Cayuga County District Attorney’s Office announced the guilty plea this week.
Police: Person rescued from embankment in Penn Yan after suffering mental health crisis
NEW DETAILS: Thursday afternoon police and first responders were called for a person suffering from a mental health crisis. When they arrived the person had fled — but police later located them down an embankment. A rope team was called in to assist, and the person was pulled to safety — receiving treatment at a local hospital.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS: Small donors are proving to be crucial in the race for the 22nd Congressional District. As arguments continue over the design of new districts — some candidates are digging in — preparing for a tough campaign in Central New York and the Finger Lakes.
No state budget deal, bail reform changes remain big sticking point
STILL NO DEAL: It’s not clear when New York State will get a new budget, but it wasn’t Thursday. Debate continued among Democrats — who apparently are having a difficult time coming to terms on select issues. Follow along with the latest in the story here.
Ontario County Humane Society plans new facility in Canandaigua
GROWTH IS HAPPENING: The OCHS purchased a 92-acre property on the corner of Route 332 and Yerkes Road in Canandaigua for $225,000. Over half of the property is a protected wetland and the new animal shelter/adoption center will be built on 40 useable acres.
