Serious assault at Holland American Hotel in Bath: Charges pending after victim airlifted with life-threatening injuries
Police are investigating a serious assault that occurred at a hotel in the town of Bath. The victim was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. The suspect, already facing two charges, is expected to face others as the investigation continues.
Cayuga leadership dispute will play out at tonight’s Seneca County Supervisors meeting
A senior account executive with the PR firm that represents the Clint Halftown-led faction of the Cayuga Indian Nation will address the Seneca County Board of Supervisors at their meeting tonight. Maria Stagliano of LEVICK is expected to tell the board that Halftown is the legitimate leader of the Cayugas and that the nation wants improved relations with the county. This comes after Chief Samuel George, representing the Council of Chiefs and Clan Mothers, said he is the legitimate Cayuga leader and told the board it could contact him for any issue concerning the Cayugas.
Hours-long standoff in city of Geneva ends with no injuries: Chief Passalacqua says charges pending
Around 7:40 p.m. officers were called to Pulteney Street for a reported domestic incident involving two people. The initial report indicated that one of the involved persons possessed a firearm and fired a round inside the residence. Pulteney Street was shut down between Washington and William streets and a reverse 911 call was made to the residence. Negotiations were unsuccessful to get the female subject at the center of the investigation out of the building. After 5.5 hours- the woman was taken into custody after Ontario County SWAT arrived.
Wayne County moves forward with plan for countywide EMS operation, seeks contractor to oversee project
Wayne County is seeking proposals from companies interested in overseeing the project to establish a countywide emergency medical services (EMS) agency. The Board of Supervisors approved the project to establish a Wayne County EMS operation in March. The county’s medical emergency services coordinator Jim Lee- who has long advocated for a countywide EMS operation- said outside assistance is needed to create a county EMS agency due to the project being such a large undertaking.
Auburn Mayor Michael Quill to court: Don’t split city into multiple state Senate, congressional districts
City of Auburn Mayor Michael Quill is urging those tasked with redistricting not to break up the city into multiple districts. Quill sent a letter to state Supreme Court Judge Patrick McAllister and court-appointed special master Dr. Jonathan Cervas asking that Auburn be “united within one congressional district and one state Senate district.” McAllister and Cervas were tasked with drawing new maps after the Court of Appeals ruled the Legislature-drawn maps unconstitutional and therefore invalid.
‘Give turtles a break’: It’s turtle crossing season in New York
Thousands of turtles are killed each year as they cross busy roads on the journey to lay their eggs. The DEC wants New Yorkers to keep an eye out on the roads during May and June and slow down to help prevent these incidents and “give turtles a break.”

They also will discuss Reuse Swap Day in Lodi. Reuse Swap Day is on Saturday May 21 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Lodi Fire Hall. Ave and Rachel will also provide updates to other events taking place through the Seneca County Cooperative Extension.
Rising cost of diesel is driving up prices at the grocery store
Consumers are feeling the impact of the rising price of diesel fuel on their trips to the grocery store. The price of diesel fuel is up $2.41 compared to this time last year. As a result of rising gas prices nationwide, the cost of grocery store products like potatoes, soups, and paper products is rising as well.
Williamson grad scores dream job with New York Yankees
A former Williamson High School student will join the New York Yankees as a quantitative analysis associate after graduating from Syracuse University this May. Mackenzie Mangos is a sports analytics major in the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics and founder of the school’s Sports Analytics Women Club. Upon graduation, she will assume the role of quantitative analysis associate in the baseball operations department of the New York Yankees.
Renovation work underway at AME Zion Church in Auburn
Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says Ahna Wilson, the Superintendent of the Harriet Tubman National Historical Park made a presentation to the City Council at its Thursday meeting with an update on the start of the work.
