Waterloo voters reject budget: What happens next?
It doesn’t happen very often, but one local school district will have to go back to the drawing board. The proposed 2023-2024 budget for the Waterloo School District was rejected by voters, falling short by a narrow margin of eight votes, 304-296, according to the district clerk’s office. This budget, a $50.1 million spending plan, carried a 1.75 percent tax levy rate. In response to this outcome, the district’s Board of Education has scheduled a special meeting on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the Middle School LGI Room to revisit the budget proposal.
PGA WEDNESDAY: Players say Oak Hill is a good test, but will take some effort off the tee.
Oak Hill Country Club is going to play long. Despite some of the chatter- cold temperatures and a steady breeze gave players trying to get some last-minute practice headaches. There were some assertions late-Tuesday that perhaps anyone could win this PGA Championship. A notion that the course is setup in such a way that guys who don’t hit the ball as far will have a chance to play along with the longer hitters. Tee times were delayed on Thursday morning for the start of the PGA Championship.
