Woody’s Bar & Grille will not renew lease at Waterloo hotel.
Citing the need for change, Woody's Bar & Grille owner/operator Liz Legott-Comatis says the restaurant will not renew its lease at the end of the month. For years, the restaurant has been in business at the Quality Inn (formerly Holiday Inn) along State Route 414. She says the hotel plans on keeping the restaurant open and doing banquets, but is uncertain about how that will look.
Brand new hotel in Canandaigua holds grand opening.
Canandaigua 1892, a unique boutique rental hotel, has opened its doors in the Finger Lakes region, marking a significant milestone for the area. The hotel, located on Main Street in a historically significant building, offers concierge-style short-term rentals, catering to tourists, event attendees, and corporate renters year-round. Owners David LeFebvre and Danielle Clement have rejuvenated the property, formerly the Village Square Building, with a focus on style and sustainability.
Ithaca moving away from abolishing police, union says.
In a significant policy reversal, the Ithaca Common Council has unanimously voted to retain the Ithaca Police Department (IPD), after years of contention around its potential abolishment. The April 5, 2023, adoption of a Public Safety Committee report confirms the IPD will retain its name and city department status, led by a Chief of Police, with no job losses or rank reduction for officers. This marks the first formal step away from the abolition plan proposed by former Mayor Svante Myrick in 2021, acknowledging the need for an adequately staffed police department in the city’s reimagined public safety plan.
