REPORT: Hochul’s plan to force buildout of more housing across NY kicked from state budget talks.
Governor Kathy Hochul’s groundbreaking housing proposal has been withdrawn from ongoing state budget discussions, according to overnight reporting by NY1. The state spending plan, which is 20+ days overdue, has been the subject of negotiations between Hochul and legislative leaders. Hochul aimed to introduce major policy changes, such as adjustments to bail laws and an innovative housing initiative called the Housing Compact. While the governor seems to have secured some of the criminal justice alterations she proposed, her Housing Compact was not supported by legislators.

Juvenile charged with making false threat after Union Springs investigation.
A local teen has been charged after falsely reporting an incident in the Union Springs Central School District. According to a news release from the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, investigators received a report of an image depicting what appeared to be firearms in reference to a student coming to school the next day.
Ontario County sees 38% increase in median home price amid statewide inventory decline.
According to the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR), housing inventory has fallen for the 41st consecutive month in year-to-year comparisons across New York State. However, Ontario County stands out with one of the most significant jumps in the median sales price of a home, increasing by 38.4% to $257,500 in March 2023 from $186,000 in March 2022.
Seneca Falls man pleads guilty to drug charges in Yates County: Labeled serial offender by prosecutors.
Yates County District Attorney Todd Casella announced that 40-year-old Shawntee Myricks was sentenced to six years in prison on Tuesday, following his fourth conviction for drug-related offenses. Myricks, a resident of Seneca Falls, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Waterloo Village Court dissolves: Where will tickets or cases be handled?
Waterloo Village Court has officially been dissolved, affecting residents with pending traffic tickets and criminal cases. The announcement comes as cases are now set to be handled in either the Waterloo Town Court or the Fayette Town Court, depending on the location where the ticket was issued.
