Sheriff Ron Spike has given an update on the standoff involving law enforcement in the village of Rushville. Prior to deputies arrival the victim told dispatch that the suspect had a firearm and would “shoot anyone coming in, and then shoot her.” Sheriff Spike said he was barricaded inside a bathroom in the residence. “Negotiations with the man were on-and-off over the phone,” Spike added. Deputies were able to extricate the woman through a rear bathroom window to safety. The standoff continued until 6:30 p.m. when the man came out and was taken into custody.
