State regulators late yesterday renewed their bid to obtain consultant reports from Cargill Inc. that analyze the effects of storing brine in the deepest section of its rock salt mine under Cayuga Lake. Cayuga County is adjusting to a significant change in its ambulance services following the departure of AMR, a key service provider. This development has left a gap in emergency response services. AMR’s exit, announced in a letter last October from its parent company Global Medical Response, cited unsustainable operations in the area. Pete Mitchell sells iconic Parker’s restaurants across the Finger Lakes
This transition leaves him with only the Parker’s in Newark, which he plans to keep. Since opening the first Parker’s in Geneva in 1996, Mitchell has expanded the popular brand across New York, with the most recent opening in Penn Yan in 2021.

Cayuga County’s plan to upgrade its fire training tower in Auburn has hit a roadblock after Congress rejected a $1.3 million funding request.
