State police arrest woman accused of killing three in Virginia after high-speed chase in Steuben County
New York State Police arrested Alyssa Venable, 23, after a high-speed chase on Thursday. Venable is accused of killing her three roommates in Virginia. The chase ended around 5:30 p.m. when Venable’s car crashed after police used spike strips to stop the vehicle, which was traveling over 100 miles per hour at times. Venable sustained minor injuries and was taken to Strong Hospital.

Steuben County deputies arrested Raymond M. Burns, 32, of Campbell, after he allegedly fired rifle shots and threatened police on June 5. Burns allegedly fired several shots outside his home and threatened to retrieve another firearm to use against the officers. He was taken into custody before he could enter his residence. [Read More]
Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal to increase a payroll tax on businesses was quickly rejected by state lawmakers, creating uncertainty for future mass transit funding. The tax hike was suggested to replace the revenue from the now-shelved congestion pricing plan. [Read More]
