Judge overturns DEC’s denial, clearing way for Greenidge plant and Bitcoin mine to operate
On Thursday, a judge annulled the state Department of Environmental Conservation’s denial of an air emissions permit for Greenidge Generation LLC’s power plant, effectively vacating a DEC closure order that was to set be carried out this week. The decision allows Greenidge to continue operating its controversial Bitcoin mining facility at the plant on the shore of Seneca Lake in Dresden, pending further administrative proceedings within the agency.

An Auburn man has been charged with manslaughter following a fatal stabbing in Syracuse on Wednesday morning. Police responded to a report on Oswego St., where they found a 31-year-old with a stab wound to his torso. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite medical aid. [Read More]
A 43-year-old Ithaca man accused of killing his wife appeared in court Thursday, facing a murder charge. Ahmed Abed is accused of attacking his wife with a cinderblock and fatally stabbing her while she slept in their home on Monday morning. [Read More]
