Four teens indicted after locker room assault at Clyde-Savannah HS was recorded
Four teens have been indicted on serious charges after a locker room assault at the Clyde-Savannah High School. Police have been investigating the incident since Halloween. The victim has been identified as a 14-year-old. The teens who were indicted, ages 15, 16, and 17 were charged with first-degree aggravated sexual abuse – a felony, as well as first-degree hazing and forcible touching. A 16-year-old was also indicted on two counts of second-degree unlawful surveillance. He’s accused of recording the attack on the 14-year-old victim.
NYS approves Canandaigua Lake water quality improvement plan
New York State officials have announced the approval of an enhanced plan to manage phosphorus levels and improve water quality in Canandaigua Lake. The “Canandaigua Lake Watershed Nine Element Plan for Enhanced Phosphorus Management,” jointly approved by the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the Department of State (DOS), aims to restore and protect the lake’s water quality, combating issues like harmful algal blooms (HABs) that have troubled the area in recent years.

Tompkins legislature advocates for environmental review of Cayuga Lake salt mine
The Tompkins County Legislature passed a resolution on November 8th with an 11-3 vote calling for increased scrutiny over Cargill’s salt mining activities in Cayuga Lake. The resolution requests Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to conduct a comprehensive, independent environmental review of the mine’s impact on the region and to secure an environmental bond for Cargill’s operations.
