First signs of fall foliage emerge across Upstate New York despite summery temps
Despite the summer-like warmth Upstate New York is beginning to show early signs of fall foliage, with several regions reporting the first glimpses of autumn colors. According to the I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report, volunteer field observers noted changes in the Adirondacks, Catskills, Finger Lakes, and Central New York, with the most noticeable color transitions happening in select areas.

Canandaigua homes evacuated after gas line struck by workers
Several homes on North Bloomfield Road in Canandaigua were evacuated Thursday after construction workers accidentally struck a gas line. Firefighters detected high gas levels near the affected residences and immediately ordered evacuations as a precaution.

Boater safety courses scheduled in Hammondsport ahead of crucial deadline
The Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport is offering two boater safety courses this fall to help boaters obtain their safety certification before the 2025 deadline. The courses will take place on Sunday, September 22, and Saturday, November 2, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the museum, located at 8231 Pleasant Valley Road.
