What led to hours-long standoff in Wayne County yesterday? Geneva woman also taken into custody after incident
A parolee’s alleged threats turned a routine arrest into a prolonged standoff Thursday in Butler, resulting in his surrender and the arrest of his girlfriend on an outstanding warrant. The incident began around 9:30 a.m. on Wolcott Spring Lake Road when state parole officers arrived at the suspect’s home.

An inmate just days away from his scheduled release attacked and injured three correctional officers at Five Points Correctional Facility, according to officials. The 23-year-old inmate, who was set to be released on Oct. 5, became combative when officers attempted to escort him from a holding cell to the infirmary. [More]

A former treasurer of the Citizens Hose Fire Company in Shortsville has been arrested for allegedly embezzling more than $100,000 from the organization over a four-year period. Jill Havens, who served as treasurer from 2018 to August 2022, faces charges of grand larceny, according to state and local officials. [More]
In response to circulating rumors and community concerns, the Auburn Police Department has released body camera footage from a Sept. 7 arrest on Cady Street where a man was injured during the incident. The man, identified as Dedrick Parks, became involved while officers were interviewing a juvenile suspect accused of trespassing on residential properties. [More]
