GAS TAX HOLIDAY: Should it be extended? Lawmakers in New York want to see the gas tax elimination continued into 2023 as fuel prices are expected to rise into the winter months. Gas prices dropped slightly this past week, but it’s a small dent in a growing cost for homeowners and motorists. [READ MORE]
TIME TO DEBATE: Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Lee Zeldin have agreed to a debate. It will be held on Tuesday, October 25th at 7 p.m. The debate is set to air on Spectrum News’ channels in New York. [READ MORE]
LAKE PLAN: A comprehensive plan to cut phosphorus pollution in the Seneca-Keuka Watershed won final state approval this week, providing a roadmap for protecting the two lakes from toxic algal blooms and flooding driven by climate change. It found farmland runoff and intense storms were to blame for rising phosphorus loads in those lakes, and driving up HABs. [READ MORE]
