Prosecutors in Wayne County say two people are headed to jail for their role in a coercion case. William Gahr and Layne Dagata were found guilty in a robbery and coercion case stemming from an incident on December 29, 2022. Carol Shannon, involved in arranging the ride, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, while Dagata and Gahr faced trial. [KEEP READING]

A lawsuit filed by the cities of Auburn and Owasco concerning watershed regulations for Owasco Lake is being transferred to Albany County Supreme Court. The legal action, initiated against the state of New York, contests the adequacy of current watershed management practices and seeks to enforce stricter nutrient management to curb harmful algal blooms. This move was ordered by Acting Cayuga County Supreme Court Justice Jon Buddelman, aiming for a resolution that better protects the lake’s water quality. [KEEP READING]

Bomb threat in Ithaca: Police say DeWitt Mall, specific individuals were threatened
The Ithaca Police Department and Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a bomb threat that they were alerted to on Sunday. According to a news release, shortly before noon authorities received a bomb threat. “The threat specifically identified the DeWitt Mall, and several individuals as targets,” IPD said in a statement. Both departments responded to investigate the threat.
