INCOMING CHECKS: New York homeowners eligible for the state’s School Tax Relief (STAR) program can expect their benefit checks or tax bill exemptions to arrive between late August and December, depending on their location. INCOME RESTRICTION LIFTED: After some initial confusion about New York State’s rules for who would be eligible for flood relief in hard-hit Steuben County, Governor Kathy Hochul’s office announced a clarification. NEW CANDIDATE: Daniel Benson has entered the race for two at-large seats on the Canandaigua City Council, joining a crowded field of candidates. Benson, 58, a territory manager for Toyota Lift Trucks, filed independent petitions and will run under the Good Government Party label, according to reporting by the Finger Lakes Times on Monday.
