Police: Standoff and shelter-in-place for neighborhood in Auburn
A home robbery near the intersection of Orchard Street and James Street prompted Auburn Police to tell local residents to shelter-in-place on Sunday. The incident, which took place around 4 p.m., saw law enforcement swiftly respond, subsequently detaining individuals they described as “person(s) of interest.” Authorities later assured the public that the situation at the residence had been resolved and there is no ongoing threat.
SUV crashes over Rt. 96A bridge, into Cayuga-Seneca Canal
First responders from an array of agencies were dispatched to the area of State Route 96 in Waterloo for a vehicle that traveled off a bridge and into the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Border City Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, and DEC Police all responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported, but first responders say the SUV was traveling north when it left the road just before the bridge on Route 96A. The car narrowly missed a utility pole, then crashed down a steep embankment into the canal.

Seneca Falls man in custody after pursuit: Found hiding in wooded area
On August 12 police arrested 27-year-old Todd S. Murphy following a vehicle chase that spanned through the town. Murphy, a resident of Seneca Falls, evaded authorities by abandoning his car and hiding in a wooded area behind a residence. He was taken into custody an hour later without further incident.
