‘TRIPLE THREAT’: Rochester Regional Health expert says flu, RSV, and COVID-19 creating strain across Finger Lakes
This season hospitals and medical offices are seeing more cases of RSV and the flu than they have in recent years. Part of this is due to the relaxation of pandemic precautions that have been in place for the last two years.
Hochul says ‘bold action’ needed as 40-60% of renters pay over 30% of household income for housing
Governor Kathy Hochul is promising bold action when it comes to housing in 2023. This after a graphic released by her team on December 1st shows that 40-60% of renters are paying more than 30% of their income on rent.
NY’s minimum wage will soon hit $14.20: Lawmakers turn attention to $21.25 goal
At the end of the month minimum wage will jump to $14.20 per hour. That’s a full-dollar increase from the current minimum wage. There’s been a renewed push by legislators to increase New York’s minimum wage to $21.25 an hour and tie it to inflation forevermore.
Proposed NYS Assembly map could force Gallahan, Manktelow into same district: Will draft map stand?
Redistricting isn’t quite complete after the 2020 census. A bipartisan redistricting panel was forced to reconvene after a state court ruled that previous Assembly maps drawn were unconstitutional. For races that took place last month, the old maps were used. Now, there could be a face-off between two elected Republicans.

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard’s staff is celebrating a big win they learned about last week. The Dundee Winery’s Riesling Seneca Lake placed 45th on the list of top 100 in Wine Spectator.
