Yes, it was a WONDERFUL weekend in Seneca Falls as the town was transformed into Bedford Falls for the It’s a Wonderful Life Festival and It’s a Wonderful Run 5K. The two events drew thousands to the area; and the race saw one of its best turnouts ever! We kick things off this week with news that one village in Wayne County may dissolve. The village of Wolcott has seen a petition circulate, in which enough signatures were secured to force a referendum vote in the next 60 days on whether the village will continue, or be dissolved into the town. Some residents say they misunderstood the petition, while others say it’s a necessary move. [Read More]

In a surprising development in Yates County — the Horseheads Village Trustee who’s accused of vehicular assault and DWI has turned down a plea deal. Over the summer, Mark Cronin, an elected official in the Southern Tier, caused an accident that left eight people hospitalized in a second vehicle. He was offered a deal that carried a maximum sentence of 1-3 years, but didn’t accept. Now, he’ll testify before a grand jury at the end of the month. [Read More]
And finally, the state has released data on work zone speeding violations. Ordinarily, this data wouldn’t draw a lot of attention. However, since the state started using cameras to catch work zone speeders — attention has greatly increased — and so has criticism of the state. [Read More]
