Gorham approves switch to appointed highway superintendent; vote set for December after split public hearing

The Finger Lakes Land Trust is celebrating 35 years of work in the region. The organization, which started as a small, volunteer-based group in 1989 now manages over 45 nature preserves and holds 188 conservation easements—protecting more than 33,000 acres of land. [MORE]

Lake foam spotted on Canandaigua Lake
Visitors to Canandaigua Lake this weekend were greeted by an unusual sight—foamy streaks across the water. Known as lake foam, this natural phenomenon forms when organic matter, such as algae and plants, decomposes and mixes with air, reducing the water’s surface tension. Photos of the foam made rounds on social media throughout the day Sunday.
