Sodus man sentenced to prison for assaulting officers in Jan. 6 Capitol riot
A Sodus resident has been sentenced to over two years in federal prison for his role in the violent breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. The man, who pleaded guilty to assaulting law enforcement officers during the attack, was involved in some of the most aggressive clashes that day, according to prosecutors.

Swift water rescue teams save person stuck in river near Moravia
Emergency crews responded to a swift water rescue on Aurora Street near Meadowbrook Lane on Sunday, where a person became stuck in a river, according to Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire. Rescue teams from Moravia, Auburn’s Swift Water Rescue, and Fourtown Ambulance were dispatched to the scene. Moravia’s Command 1 assumed control of the rescue effort, while additional units, including a boat team from Moravia, staged at the nearby Babe Ruth baseball field for quick deployment.
