Two airlifted from serious accident near Savannah late-Sunday
First responders from Wayne and Seneca counties were called to a serious dirt bike accident near the county line late-Sunday. The accident was reported during the evening hours, and involved serious injuries, according to our partners at the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire. Clyde, Savannah, Montezuma Fire, North Seneca Ambulance and Port Byron Ambulance all responded to the scene. Two people suffered serious enough injuries that both were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Bomb threat at Temple Beth-El investigated, deemed not credible
On September 17 the Geneva Police Department responded to a reported bomb threat at Temple Beth-El around 8:15 a.m. Swiftly addressing the situation, the department enlisted the assistance of the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office’s Explosive Detection K-9 unit to meticulously inspect the temple’s premises. The meticulous search resulted in no discovery of explosive devices. Authorities assessed the threat as isolated, assuring there is no continuing danger to the public.
Wayne County fugitive apprehended after avoiding capture in August, leading authorities on pursuit
Trent Goodrich, 22, of Wolcott, was apprehended on September 13, after avoiding authorities since August 31. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, alongside several other agencies, executed an arrest warrant for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and second-degree robbery on Goodrich. Acting on intelligence suggesting he was in Wayne County, a collective effort between multiple agencies led to the successful location of the suspect. However, upon detection, Goodrich immediately made an escape attempt in a stolen vehicle.
Motor home ignites along Rt. 370 in Cayuga county (video)
A motor home fire disrupted traffic on Route 370 near Southard Road on September 16. The Cato Fire Department and CIMVAC swiftly responded to the scene, managing to quickly extinguish the flames. They were further assisted by the North West Fire District.
