Sodus woman’s disappearance in 1991 ruled a homicide as authorities reopen investigation
Police have reopened the investigation into Judith Geurin, a woman who disappeared 33 years ago in Wayne County, as a homicide case. Geurin, last seen in February 1991, was officially reported missing after her belongings were discovered untouched in her Sodus apartment. In October 2020, hunters found human remains near Chimney Bluffs on Garner Road, which were recently confirmed through forensic evidence to be Geurin’s.

Laskowski, a 40-year-old resident of Ontario, Wayne County, has been charged with a class D felony for leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident that resulted in the death of another Ontario man last summer. The Middle States Commission on Higher Education criticized Wells College for failing to adequately plan and notify the accrediting body in a timely manner regarding its decision to close. The accreditor has now requested that Wells College submit its teach-out plans, which facilitate student transfers to other institutions by May 13 for approval. [READ MORE]

Villages of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs will host downtown revitalization meeting on May 13
The villages of Aurora, Cayuga, and Union Springs are advancing plans to allocate a $10 million state grant aimed at downtown revitalization. A Local Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 13, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Union Springs Fire Department. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link is available for remote participation.
