In Wayne County Michael A. Robinson, a 49-year-old man from Newark, has been sentenced to 25 years to life for the murder of Torey Mathis in Arcadia in June 2021. Robinson was convicted by a jury of both robbery and murder, following an investigation that began when Mathis, aged 52, was found deceased with multiple sharp injuries after failing to appear for work. Officials in Wayne County are providing more details on the limited state of emergency that will be in effect during Monday’s total solar eclipse. An estimated 50,000 additional people will be traveling to Wayne County for the eclipse, which has prompted county officials to develop a plan that includes some temporary road closures. UPDATE: Mennonite teen identified in Gorham drowning, Sheriff says foul play not suspected
Sheriff David Cirencione has provided an update on the drowning that claimed the life of a 13-year-old in Ontario County on Thursday. Jeromy Weaver, 13, died after falling into a creek on Blodgett Road in Gorham. The 13-year-old attended Meadowview Mennonite Community School.
