Fall foliage across the Finger Lakes is progressing, with areas like Auburn and Waterloo showing over 30% color change as vibrant reds and yellows begin to take over. The latest I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report notes that Schuyler and Steuben counties are seeing similarly significant changes, with bright red, orange, and yellow hues decorating the landscape in Hammondsport and Corning.

A town justice in Schuyler County has resigned while under investigation for attending the January 6 riot in Washington, D.C., and other alleged misconduct, according to a state commission. Donald R. Spaccio, who served as a justice for both the Montour Falls Village Court and the Montour Town Court, will step down officially next week. In a stipulation accepted by the commission, Spaccio agreed never to seek or accept judicial office in the future. [Read More]
A multi-vehicle collision on State Route 104 in the town of Sodus left one driver with non-life-threatening injuries and led to traffic citations on Thursday afternoon, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Amy Wing, 65, of Rush, was driving westbound on Route 104 around 4:51 p.m. on September 26 when she approached slowed traffic at the intersection with Maple Avenue. [Read More]
Sherri Williams, the mother of Fred R. Williams Jr., has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Cayuga County and several county departments, alleging negligence and indifference led to her son’s suicide while in custody at the Cayuga County Jail. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, claims that county officials failed to address Fred Williams’ mental health needs despite his known history of suicide attempts and mental illness. Tompkins County health officials are working to dispel misinformation surrounding a canine parvovirus outbreak at Ithaca’s Asteri housing units. Public concerns circulated on social media have falsely linked the virus to human health risks.
