A driver in Wayne County was rescued Friday morning after his car veered off Gansz Road in Galen and sank into a partially frozen pond. Deputies and emergency responders acted swiftly to help the 66-year-old man escape the sinking vehicle using a safety throw rope. The driver was taken to the hospital for evaluation after the accident, which occurred when he lost control of his vehicle. The Sheriff’s Office praised the collaborative effort that ensured the driver’s safety.
A two-car crash in the Town of Jerusalem left two Keuka Park residents injured Saturday morning. The accident occurred when a 74-year-old driver, William H. Gage, turned into a driveway and was struck by an oncoming vehicle driven by Kortnee L. Taylor. Both drivers were transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital with injuries, including chest pain and head and neck trauma. Authorities are investigating but have not announced any charges.
