First up, we have new scrutiny on the state’s financial outlook. Comptroller Tom DiNapoli and Business Council of NYS President Briccetti Mulligan are voicing concerns over New York’s dwindling population and its implications on the state’s economy and tax base. An op-ed published by the two highlighted that the state lost over 533,000 residents between July 2020 and July 2023, with the population continuing to shrink by more than 101,000 people from 2022 to 2023. And finally, a sad update to the tragedy at the U.S.-Mexico border. A New York State Trooper, identified as John M. Grassia III, was among three people killed in a National Guard helicopter crash in Texas. He was assigned to Troop G and joined the ranks in 2022. [READ MORE]
