Geneva identifies three finalists for police chief job
The candidates will participate in a moderated community forum on Wednesday, May 29, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 47 Castle St. The event will also be live-streamed on the city’s YouTube page. City Police Lt. Ron Eveland, James “Jimmer” McCormack, a retired New York state trooper with 30 years of service, and James Chechak, the current chief of the Waterloo Police Department with over 16 years of law enforcement experience are the candidates.

A boat accident on Keuka Lake resulted in injuries and charges against the operator on Friday. The incident occurred at 1:59 p.m., prompting a response from Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies, Branchport Fire Department, and Penn Yan Ambulance. [Read More]
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reported a personal injury accident in the Village of Clyde that sent two the hospital. Japheth L. Horning, 19, of Galen, was driving northbound on State Route 414 when he fell asleep at the wheel. Horning’s vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, striking another vehicle occupied by two people.
