Cayuga County legislators are advancing changes to the proposed 2025 budget, including a plan to postpone layoffs of five full-time employees until April 1, 2025. Originally slated for Jan. 1, the delay would provide $55,237 in funding for three positions via the property tax levy, while two highway department roles would be supported by another fund. Legislators say the extension offers affected workers more time to prepare.
