Remote fire in Galen tests first responders from multiple departments: No injuries reported
Fire crews from multiple departments worked together Saturday to extinguish a fully engulfed pickup truck fire located over two miles off-road in a remote area of Galen, according to the Clyde-Galen Fire District. When the first units arrived firefighters found the pickup truck completely engulfed in flames on a small trail. Due to the remote location, Seneca Falls and Savannah were called in to assist with their utility terrain vehicles (UTVs) to help access the difficult terrain.

Supervisors in Ontario County say they’re going to need more time to evaluate the future of its county-owned landfill. While not operated by the County—officials say they need more time to explore alternatives and learn more. Meanwhile, advocates for closure say they could be ready for a vote as soon as December. The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will hold two important sessions on Tuesday. The first will be a special board meeting, which is slated for 6 p.m. Committee meetings, of which there will be multiple, are going to be held from 5:30-6 p.m., and then continue after the special board meeting concludes. Geneva General Hospital to host blood drive amid national shortage
Geneva General Hospital will hold a blood drive on Friday, Oct. 25, in partnership with the American Red Cross. The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Conference Room A/B, located on the hospital’s basement level at 196 North Street.
