Algae outbreak in Seneca Lake not impacting Geneva’s drinking water, officials say
Geneva city officials are assuring residents that recent algae blooms in Seneca Lake, which have turned the water green at the north end, are not affecting the city’s drinking water supply. This comes two days after health officials in Seneca County put residents on notice that the region was seeing a spike in HABs reports. In Geneva, officials say drinking water is sourced from another part of the lake, where the bloom was not present.

A person was fatally shot Saturday morning in Lyons, prompting a significant police response, first responders confirmed. The shooting, reported around 10:30 a.m. followed a 911 call about a domestic dispute, and led to the suspect fleeing the scene. [Read More]

Deputies have identified the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run in Yates County as Sarah E. Olsen of Penn Yan.
