WATERLOO MURDER UPDATE: Wayne Ellison Jr. of Waterloo and Christopher Kesterson of Phelps pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second- degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon in Seneca County Court. The two were indicted by a grand jury on the charges. [READ MORE]

TRAGEDY IN TOMPKINS: One person is dead after being found in the Renwick Gorge late-Wednesday. Police are calling it an ‘unattended death’ in the gorge. The circumstances that led to the death are unclear at this point in the investigation. First responders were called to the gorge around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. [READ MORE]
NO MORE LANDFILL: The Seneca Town Board was unanimous in its decision on the future of the Ontario County Landfill in its community. They want to see it shut down in 2028 when the permit for the facility expires. The town of Seneca has hosted the landfill since 1974. But on Tuesday, the board voted 5-0 to support closing the Casella landfill when its state permit expires. [READ MORE]
WRONGFUL ARREST IN WAYNE: A state Supreme Court jury has awarded $80,000 to an Arcadia man in a wrongful arrest lawsuit that was filed against the Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies. Attorney Sarah Wesley, who represented Kenneth Holley Jr., in the civil trial said the county had already admitted liability in the incident. So, the court case was purely about damages and the impact on those involved. [READ MORE]
