PROPOSITION ON THE BALLOT: Voters will decide Nov. 8 whether to approve the issuance of $4.2 billion in state bonds to finance flood-risk reduction, water infrastructure and other clean energy initiatives aimed at addressing the likely future impacts of climate change. Election ballots will include the question as Proposal 1. State legislators voted by more than a 3-1 margin in April for a budget bill that boosted the bond limit from $3 billion to $4.2 billion. AUBURN STAPLE REOPENS: Curley’s Restaurant is reopening. It’s been three years since the historic restaurant was open. But on Wednesday, November 23rd the restaurant and bar will reopen. “The day the community has been waiting for is finally here,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post. “The day before Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days of the year so it’s only fitting to be our opening day.” Doors will open to the public at 11 a.m. The kitchen will close at 9 p.m. and bar at midnight. “We can’t wait to see you all and hope you love the transformation as much as we do,” the restaurant added in the Facebook post. REST STOP FRUSTRATION: The new rest stops along the New York State Thruway have drawn some criticism from travelers who say the restrooms are too small. Some of the folks who have visited the Junius Ponds rest area between exits 41 and 42 say the entire space isn’t large enough to accommodate traffic. News10NBC reached out to the Thruway Authority, who said the rest stops that have opened thus far in the Finger Lakes and Western New York represent the smallest of all locations. INSIDE THE FLX: Last weekend the village of Newark experienced one of its biggest tragedies in recent memory. A shooting during the early-morning hours on Saturday along Murray Street left one person dead. Newark Mayor Jonathan Taylor spoke about that incident in a recent appearance on Inside the FLX. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim and his family,” Taylor began. “I felt the response from our police department was very good; and with assistance from state troopers they immediately, and expeditiously began their work once they arrived on-scene.” [WATCH]
