First up, some big news for local, historic landmarks that could get much needed attention! The Five to Revive, launched in 2013, highlights properties in Western New York annually, needing investment for rehabilitation. This initiative identified two local landmarks including the Naples Memorial Town Hall in Ontario County and Palmyra-Macedon Aqueduct in Wayne County. [Keep Reading]
Governor Hochul has allocated $100 million to 50 school districts and BOCES, aiming to counteract pandemic-induced learning loss and enhance mental health services for students. Among the local winners, Auburn, Clyde-Savannah, Dryden, Lyons, and Sodus will all get millions. [Keep Reading]

Earlier this month Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson became one of the youngest sheriffs in New York. That doesn’t make him less experienced than some other law enforcement leaders in the region, though. Sheriff Thompson took office after 25 years in law enforcement, and in a conversation with FingerLakes1.com said the decision came down to his desire to serve the community.
A $140,685 grant is coming to the city of Canandaigua for combating invasive species in Canandaigua Lake. This funding, sought by the city on behalf of the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Council, is essential for the continuation of two important programs. [Keep Reading]
The Geneva Police Department is investigating a stabbing that happened at a residence on Genesee Street on Tuesday. Officers found a 38-year-old male suffering from a single stab wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he’s listed in stable condition. [Keep Reading]
And finally, a two-car crash in Camillus resulted in the death of an Auburn man, according to troopers. State Police arrived at the scene on State Route 321 Wednesday morning, near Flat Rock Road, around 9 a.m. [Keep Reading]
