In a tragic car accident on State Route 441 in Walworth, a retired Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputy was killed and three others were injured. New York State Police, who responded to the crash around 4 p.m. Tuesday, are currently investigating the incident. Thomas Doherty, 62, of Webster, was the lone fatality in the wreck despite three others being hospitalized. [Read More]
Williamson Supervisor Tony Verno has been appointed as the new chair of the Wayne County Board of Supervisors. The all-Republican board, featuring seven new members, made this decision during their annual organizational meeting on Tuesday. Verno, succeeding Phil Eygnor of Huron, was chosen in a closed-door GOP caucus, over Macedon’s Kim Leonard. [Read More]

In a significant crackdown on narcotics in the Finger Lakes law enforcement agencies have arrested 10 individuals. The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and other local agencies conducted multiple search warrants across Ontario, Monroe, Wayne, Seneca, and Oneida Counties uncovering a substantial amount of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, firearms, and around $30,000 in cash. The Seneca Falls Police Department has given an update on a violent assault that happened at a residence along Fall Street last month. On December 10 around 5:15 p.m., local police, aided by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and North Seneca Ambulance, rushed to a house on Fall Street following a report of an assault. Upon arrival they found a woman severely injured with multiple stab wounds and in critical condition. [Read More]
And finally, Cayuga County reported a significant decrease in suspected overdoses in 2023, with figures dropping below 200 for the first time in recent years. The county’s overdose dashboard revealed a total of 159 suspected overdoses last year, including seven fatalities. [Read More]
