Clifton Springs Hospital unveils expanded, state-of-the-art emergency department
The renovated department, set to start admitting patients on September 6, is designed to better accommodate the growing number of patients in the Finger Lakes region, with expanded facilities that more than double the current space. The improvement includes more beds, triage areas, and the integration of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Lyons voters approve $55 million capital improvement project for schools
It’s official – voters in the Lyons Central School District have approved a capital improvement project. The $55 million Capital Improvement Project proposition received 522 yes votes and 212 no votes. The vote was held on Wednesday, August 30, 2023.
Auburn police chase ends near Thruway; outcome unclear and no arrests made yet
An attempted traffic stop in Auburn on Thursday escalated into a chase reaching the Thruway, but the final outcome remains uncertain. Police tried to stop a vehicle in the city, but it failed to comply. The pursuit eventually ended near the Thruway, but details are scarce.
Seneca Falls Town Board could vote on new host agreement next week
The Seneca Falls Town Board is set to convene Tuesday to deliberate the adoption of a new host community agreement with Texas-based Seneca Meadows Inc. (SMI). The agreement, which was presented at an August board meeting following extended negotiations, mandates various regulations and benefits for the town, contingent upon SMI obtaining a state permit for its landfill expansion on Route 414.
In exchange, the town could receive financial perks including a $1 million signing bonus, an additional $2 million upon obtaining necessary permits, and $10 million annually for 15 years.
Elderly Penn Yan man with dementia believed to have strangled wife to death
In a tragic incident, an 89-year-old man with severe case of dementia is expected to face charges in relation to the death of his 89-year-old wife, according to Penn Yan Police Chief Thomas Dunham.
Authorities discovered both individuals on the bathroom floor of their Penn Yan residence on Aug. 29 after a concerned home health aide checked on them. It’s believed they had been in that state for two to three days, with the last known contact on Aug. 26.
