Finger Lakes region launches multi-county suicide prevention campaign
In response to an upward trend in suicide deaths in the Finger Lakes Region, local health departments have united to launch a multi-county suicide prevention campaign. The initiative, driven by the Pivital Public Health Partnership, includes Chemung, Livingston, Ontario, Schuyler, Seneca, Steuben, Wayne, and Yates counties. Modeled after the #BeThe1To campaign, the effort targets first responders, older adults, men, and veterans, who are at higher-than-average risk of suicide.

The village of Moravia will utilize its $2.25 million NY Forward grant to fund six transformative projects, including converting a vacant bank into a tavern and establishing a fund for smaller initiatives. No serious injuries were reported after a car crashed into the side of the Rite Aid store in the village of Penn Yan late Wednesday morning. Penn Yan Fire and Ambulance crews responded to the scene around 11:40 a.m. The vehicle suffered front-end damage, but the building’s exterior remained largely unscathed. [Read More]

At approximately 2:40 p.m. Wednesday, emergency responders attended to a single-car rollover crash on County Road 30 near Cooley Road. The crash involved 67-year-old James Burgess of Bloomfield, who swerved to avoid a stopped vehicle and ended up in a ditch, causing the rollover.
