EXCLUSIVE: Steve Valentino talks issues as campaign for Geneva mayor heads toward Election Day
Today we continue our series previewing local, contested elections across the Finger Lakes as we sit down with Geneva Mayor Steve Valentino. The Democrat was endorsed by Republicans ahead of a contested primary in June, in which he was defeated by Jan Regan, who joined us last week in-studio for a conversation about her campaign and the issues in the city. Valentino says he’s drawing from experience on city council and first term as mayor, as he looks ahead to a possible second.
Fall foliage near peak across the Finger Lakes region
According to the latest 2023 I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report, the Finger Lakes region is showcasing vibrant fall colors, with most areas nearing their peak foliage conditions. Observers in Naples report close to peak conditions with roughly 70% color transformation, displaying a mix of red, yellow, and green hues. Similarly, Auburn anticipates more than 75-80% foliage change, showcasing a blend of muted to vivid shades of yellow, orange, and red.
Firefighters: Pets lost after massive blaze at home in North Rose
Firefighters say quick action saved residents, but several pets were lost in a fire that happened during the morning hours along Catchpole Road in North Rose. On October 11, a significant house fire prompted an urgent response from the Clyde Fire Department, along with the Rose and North Rose fire departments. Initial reports indicated a person was still inside attempting to rescue pets while a bedroom was ablaze.
