Farmer’s Almanac predicts bitter cold, snowy winter ahead for Upstate New York
After a notably mild previous winter, the U.S. should brace itself for a season dominated by cold temperatures and increased snowfall, as per the recently published Winter 2024 Extended Weather Forecast by the Farmers’ Almanac.
The report emphasizes the resurgence of the “BRRR,” forecasting bone-chilling, below-average temperatures, particularly in January and February, and an abundance of snow, sleet, ice, and rain across most parts of the country. How do things look for Upstate New York in the report?

While the suspects remain unidentified and at large, the police are confident in their leads, suggesting a potential targeted attack rather than a random act.

NWS verifies four tornadoes across New York after Monday storms including rare EF-3
The National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed on Wednesday that four tornadoes resulted from Monday night’s storms, with the latest spotted in Vernon, Oneida County.
Notably, an EF-3 tornado, a classification seldom seen in New York, struck Lewis County, covering a 16-mile distance. The EF-3 tornado exhibited wind speeds nearing 165 miles per hour, causing significant damage. Mike Fries from the Buffalo National Weather Service pointed out the atypical damage, where trees were wholly defoliated, resembling “giant toothpicks sticking out from the sky.”
