Local governments across New York are calling for more state funding, highlighting years of stagnant financial support. The state’s Aid and Incentives for Municipalities (AIM) program, which assists cities, towns, and villages, has remained at about $715 million since 2012, a significant drop from its $1.1 billion peak in 2010. Tragedy avoided thanks to quick acting resident moments before car struck by CSX train
A potentially fatal accident was averted in Fairport thanks to a quick-acting good Samaritan. A car, following GPS directions, mistakenly turned onto railroad tracks near Main Street, becoming suspended on the tracks.
