State trooper involved in East Bloomfield shooting
State police were involved in a shooting in Ontario County during the evening hours on Wednesday, according to first responders. The shooting happened around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday on State Route 64 near Cannan Road. Reps with New York State Police said it’s an isolated incident and that there’s no threat to the public. However, they did confirm that a trooper was involved in a shooting.
Newly elected Cayuga County Clerk ticketed in hit-and-run
Brian Scanlan, the newly elected Cayuga County Clerk, has been issued a ticket for a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Saturday night in the town of Owasco. According to Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, Scanlan, who won the election last week, collided with a parked car in front of 12 Fairway Drive around 8 p.m. The incident was classified as a property damage hit-and-run.
Clyde-Savannah school board president cancels public comment at postponed meeting citing active investigation
The Clyde-Savannah school board convened on Wednesday for its first meeting since the alleged incident in the boys’ locker room on Halloween, which resulted in the arrest of four members of the football team. This meeting was particularly significant as it was initially intended to be the first opportunity for families to express their concerns to school leaders following the incident. Last week’s board meeting had been canceled due to safety considerations. However, board president Pamela Anstee announced the cancellation of the public comment section, citing the ongoing investigation into the incident.
Puylara, Draheim secure victories after absentee ballots counted in Seneca Falls
Following an intense wait for the absentee ballot count, Democrats Jackson Puylara and Diane Draheim have been confirmed as the winners in the Seneca Falls Town Board and Town Justice races respectively. The final tally on Tuesday, which included 51 absentee, affidavit, and hand count ballots, not only confirmed their leads but also increased their margins.
