17 Fatal Listeria Cases in New York Linked to Boar's Head Meat: One Fatality in Cayuga County
Several deaths have been linked to the listeria outbreak associated with Boar's Head deli meats. There's even been one confirmed case in Cayuga County, according to the latest state reporting. Boar's Head has recalled over 7 million pounds of products, including ham and liverwurst, produced at its Virginia facility. A class action lawsuit has been filed in New York, accusing the company of failing to warn consumers about the contamination.

Ithaca Man Arrested in West Buffalo Street Shooting
Ithaca Police arrested Tarrant Sheppard, 40, on August 30 in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier that day in the 300 block of West Buffalo Street. The incident, which took place around 12:30 PM, left one victim with non-life-threatening injuries, who was transported to a regional trauma center. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
