State legislators are urging Governor Kathy Hochul to stop the expansion of New York’s largest landfill Seneca Meadows. State Sen. Pete Harckham and Assemblywoman Deborah Glick, environmental conservation committee leaders, highlight the landfill’s negative impact on air quality and local health, including a cluster of lung cancers in the area. Democrat Michael Salotto and Republican Tom Moracco are vying for a seat that will run through December 31, 2025. To aid in decision-making, the IDA is issuing a request for proposals from engineering and architectural firms.
